Natural feeding is the basis for optimal health and prevention of disease, but if a horse's health status is compromised, this must be balanced and healed to allow the horse the full benefit of its nutrition.
Our classical Herbal Medicine philosophy is to treat each horse as an individual in a holistic manner - taking into account all the physical factors as well as personality and circumstances. Comprehensive information is obtained through our unique consultation profile, together with any veterinary diagnoses, reports and blood tests.
Our prescribed herbal and flower essence remedies are prepared individually for each horse from medicinal quality herbal extracts of high potency. They are designed for oral dosing, which is non-invasive, low dosage, and easily metabolised. Most horses quickly become accustomed to this method of dosing, so much so that many clients report that the horses relish their herbal treatments and can be dosed without a halter.
To achieve lasting results, the usual period of treatment is continuously over one full blood cycle (12 weeks). After this period the horse should be maintained on its own specially designed Herbal Horse Natural Diet.
The Herbal Horse Consultation fee is $110* per horse which includes:
- Formulation of a Herbal Horse Natural Diet.
- Treatment Notes.
- Prescribing, dispensing, and sending herbal remedies.
- Monitoring progress during the course of treatment.
- Free consultation for any condition at a later date.
- Management & Return to Work Programs, (where applicable).
The costs of our herbal prescriptions are:
- Ponies & galloways 200 ml $60
- Averaged sized horse 300 ml $88
- Large & heavy horses 500 ml $148
Dosage rates vary according to the size & weight of the horse, but also according to the number of herbs in the mix, and the nature of the condition being treated. However, as a general rule, the bottle sizes above will last 4 weeks. Only one bottle is dispensed at a time so that any necessary alterations can be made when the next bottle is dispensed, depending on the progress of the horse.
FLOWER ESSENCE MIXES:
Flower essences, both Bach, and Australian Bush Flower, are always included in our prescription mixes and formulas, but there are times when a flower essence mix is called for on its own.
Flower essences are absolutely wonderful for helping to balance emotions in horses. For example, to help resolve the memories of past traumas, specific fears, general apprehension, to help with adjustment to new circumstances in their life such as weaning/training/travelling, or to help them in their relationships with other horses – for example, the horse who is very dependent on other horses or is horse shy.
There are so many flowers to choose from – 38 Bach Flower Essences and over 100 Bush Flower Essences!
We can help by formulating a flower remedy which will contain a selection of five to seven essences designed to address the specific needs of your horse or pony.
Flower essence remedies are most inexpensive and very effective!
For a a one-off consultation fee of $25, we will customise a mix specially for your horse or pony.
The mix is available in two sizes, made up ready to use, 100 ml $22 / 200 ml $33. A few drops are syringed over the tongue once or twice daily, but can also be used more frequently if required.
Because these remedies are physically dilute and vibrational in nature, they are not designed to be given in the feed, as they do not work through the metabolism. However, as they are virtually tasteless and the dosage rate is so small, they are very easy to administer. There is nothing to be gained by giving bigger dosages.
